Eco-Congregation

LUPC places a high value on care for God’s creation and actively seek ways in which we can make a positive difference to our carbon footprint as individuals and as a community.

We gained our Silver Eco-Congregation Award in May 2020 with initiatives which included:

Here is a message from Angela Constance MSP on receipt of our Silver Award:

Young LAYLA’S lockdown recycling project: Potting table made from broken pallets and left over wood from the old fence. Her salad garden has flourished too! 🙂

Young Eilidh, at home during lockdown, stitching off-cuts of fabric

Milk bottle tops can be posted for recycling to: G.H.S Recycling, 32 Ackworth Road, Shawcross Industrial Park, Hilsea
Portsmouth, Hampshire PO3 5JP

Eilidh recycled her off-cuts of fabric into a face mask! Great job 🙂

RNIB Stamp Appeal: Please keep saving your postage stamps, leaving a 1cm paper border.  Marjory McGhie is happy to receive your saved stamps by post to 55 Barclay Way, EH54 8EZ or to arrange pick up, call 07305 163578.  It would also be helpful to separate foreign stamps from British stamps.

Recycling Spectacles and Sunglasses: Please keep hold of your old spectacles and sunglasses for recycling via Vision Aid Overseas.  Sue Brown is happy to pick up from your doorstep – tel. 01506 439153.

LUPC is an active member of the West Lothian and Falkirk Eco-Congregation Network. The next meeting is a Bird Chorus Walk at 7am on Saturday 1 May 2021 down at Killandean Community Allotments, Livingston. A warm welcome is guaranteed as well as a bacon roll and a cuppie. (Subject to COVID 19 restrictions)

If you would like to attend an event or to be part of our Eco Fellowship, please contact Marjory McGhie at marjmcghie@outlook.com. For details of our Annual Woodland litter pick, please email lupc.litterpick@gmail.com.
